Photo 61 - Dick Bulligan Power
A photo of Dick ‘Bulligan’ Power. During his long relationship with the sea, Dick has seen the good times and the bad times in equal measure and has taken both in his stride without ever getting too excited. We could all learn a thing or two about life from Dick.
Photo 62 - Paddy Fitzgerald
A photo of one of the great Dunmore postmen, and all-round handyman, Paddy ‘Duffin’ Fitzgerald. There wouldn’t have been many things that Paddy couldn’t turn his hand to.

Nurse Barry was the first person to lay eyes on me on the morning of my birth in Dunmore. It was such an important life changing event for me, it’s a shame that I wasn’t dressed for the occasion.

A photo of Annie Molloy, who was also known as ‘Gong Gong’. I can’t claim to have known the lady, but her name does ring a bell. I often heard my mother talking about her, she said she was great fun to go out dancing with.

Photo 80 - I Loves Me Village
Gerry O’Regan was a promising hurler from a very early age. He won the accolade of senior infant hurler of the year in the ‘Mothers of Mercy’ league of 1963, which was run by the local nuns, and his future looked bright. Unfortunately, a certain nun by the name of Mother Regina took a dislike to Gerry. She was probably jealous of his sporting ability, having had aspirations to become a hurler herself before taking the veil. One day after Gerry had escaped from an upstairs toilet in the convent, in which she had locked him, Mother Regina confiscated his hurl and sliotar and hid them in the nuns ball room, never to be seen again. Sadly that put an end to Gerry’s hurling career and Waterford’s chances of winning ‘All Irelands’ in the 1970’s. Who knows what might have been had it not been for Mother Regina and her spiteful actions on that fateful day.
